I strongly believe it does. Leadership is just that - being a leader, being an example, showing the way. It matters a whole lot who we "follow". Just the fact you have so much confusion at the moment and as you pointed out, "rebellious children" shows that leadership is needed. Church is more than fellowship. It is part of the great commission - to go and make disciples. It is a place of worship, a place to be edified, and a place to be armed with the tools for battle. It matters who is leading in all these things. Read the things Paul told Timothy he needed to do as a leader. Read Ephesians to see how we are to work out our walk. You need people who know the word, and know how to apply it in the body. You need someone who is walking in the Spirit and is praying for each member. "Church" is a living organism with each member fit and joined for the purpose of glorifying God. Leadership, good Godly leadership, is vital. Otherwise you have a rudderless ship going around aimlessly and in circles, getting nowhere and purposing nothing. Bless you for caring so much and being willing to get involved.
